The Inaugural session of the UN Global Science-Policy-Business Forum on the Environment, was organized in parallel to the third UN Environment Assembly, held in December 2017 in Nairobi, Kenya.
The first session of the UN Global Science-Policy-Business Forum on the Environment aimed to identify and promote opportunities for green investment that are driven by advances in science and technology, empowering policies and innovative financing. It also strengthened the interface between science, policy, business and society by tearing down traditional sectoral barriers and building consensus around key issues.
Sessions at the 2017 UN Environment Assembly included:
- High-Level Plenary and Concurrent Roundtables of the Science-Policy-Business Forum, on 2 and 3 December 2017;
- A Press conference to launch the Frontiers Report, on 5 December 2017. The report describes key emerging issues and new environmental concerns, which if not addressed, may become the major global problems of tomorrow;
- The Science for Green Solutions Leadership Dialogue, on 5 December 2017, to discuss and debate key environmental issues with top scientists, CEOs and political leaders.
The Science-Policy-Business outcome document was presented to the Plenary Session of the third UN Environment Assembly on 4 December 2017. It was also used to guide the UN Environment’s Science Strategy.
